Golgoth confirms Joe and Mac remake in the works
Posted Nov 6th 2009 3:30PM by Griffin McElroy
Golgoth recently dropped a press release to cut off conjecture about their next project at the pass, simply stating, "after our Toki remake release, we'll work on Joe and Mac license." That simple confirmation, as well as the concept art seen above, was really the only meat on the release's bones -- platforms for the remake, or a tentative launch window still remain unannounced.
We'd love to toot our own horn for correctly guessing the franchise Golgoth would work on next, but the studio's boss did say it would be a Data East-developed co-op platformer. One needn't be a world-renowned cryptographer to suss that one out.

I loved the first one on SNES! I re-rented that game countless times.
koehler83 @ Nov 6th 2009 3:35PM
Sold! (Unless it's on Wii... cause it's also sold)
Warlock @ Nov 6th 2009 3:35PM
Sweet! It's about freaking time someone revived this franchise!
Monica Dickey @ Nov 6th 2009 5:49PM
Totally. Between this and Hudson's Island with that other little caveman guy I will be able to relive my brother's 8th birthday at the arcade haha
Shagittarius @ Nov 6th 2009 3:35PM
Wow there must be no more good ideas left if we're down to remaking C titles of barely recognizable characters. Too bad , let us morn the loss of creativity.
DangerMouse @ Nov 6th 2009 4:12PM
I'm still holding out for a Rise of the Robots remake.
Dustin @ Nov 6th 2009 5:01PM
Hasn't Hollywood been doing this for, oh I don't know, the past 20 years?
HSOL @ Nov 6th 2009 3:36PM
Sweet. Joe and Mac was one of my favorite SNES games. Hopefully they don't butcher it like Ubisoft did with TMNT.
Elranzer @ Nov 6th 2009 4:24PM
Ubisoft aboslutely needs to stay away from the TMNT franchise. It's gotta be Konami or no one else.
Filthy Assistant @ Nov 7th 2009 12:32AM
What exactly was wrong with TMNT? And don't say the music.
rudimentalist @ Dec 9th 2009 10:05AM
Ubisoft's TMNT game for the GBA was really pretty good. Better than Konami's GBA TMNT games. I just think they need to stop with the remakes and make games that nod to the old ones but with deeper gameplay (chaining up combos in the GBA one is great)
Anymore these days, remakes are just an excuse not to have to design new levels.

Orion @ Nov 6th 2009 3:54PM
You young whippersnappers.
NitroMikeo @ Nov 6th 2009 3:56PM
Yeah lets all downvote him for giving his opinion!
under13warrior @ Nov 6th 2009 4:02PM
yeah who are joe and mac?
Ninja's?
Caveman?
Phoenix @ Nov 6th 2009 4:12PM
Ninja cavemen!?
False @ Nov 6th 2009 4:57PM
"Who?" is not an opinion. It's a smartass remark. If you have nothing relevant to add to a thread, don't comment on it.
Shagittarius @ Nov 6th 2009 5:50PM
You know the comment, "If you have nothing relevant to add to a thread, don't comment on it." is actually a smart ass comment itself.
Warlock @ Nov 6th 2009 5:58PM
Smartass or not, at least it's an opinion.
Mr.Realistic @ Nov 6th 2009 3:37PM
FUCK YES! Joe & Mac rule so hard.
Jakeander @ Nov 6th 2009 3:38PM
Co Op on the snes was so awsome.
emperorzeroxx @ Nov 6th 2009 3:53PM
hopefully this is on xbla like the fruity rainbow game remake.
nightmare452 @ Nov 6th 2009 3:43PM
YEEEEEESSSS!!!!!!
Joe & mac was an awesome game, definitely a buy on the name alone to support them.
But what we really need is a port of Caveman Games for NES. Creating the fire against my bro and blowing his fire at the same time = great memories.
Slaziman (PSN ID: Slaziman) @ Nov 6th 2009 3:56PM
Fucking awesome game. Possibly the game with the coolest dinosaur fights I've ever played.
I hope they do both 1 and 2.
sonicspike41 @ Nov 6th 2009 4:09PM
Awesome. I never played the game, but from what I've read it seems like fun. Also, it reminds me of a game I did play back in the day: Congo's Caper. Here's hoping they remake that game next! (Though perhaps it's better they don't to avoid being labeled as the studio to turn to when you need a game remade, and nothing else).
Jonathan @ Nov 6th 2009 4:18PM
I'm so glad this was announced. My older brother and I used to LOVE playing this game. We had so much fun beating each other up so that we could get the power-ups.
I still very vividly remember the first T-Rex boss fight. And after you beat it, that hot chick comes out and hugs the player who got the last hit, while the other player's character looks sad.
Dr. steve brule @ Nov 6th 2009 6:03PM
thanks for the good memory.
the co-op in this game was so much fun, me and a buddy rented this quite a few times taking turns.
Miguel @ Nov 6th 2009 4:31PM
HELL YES!!!! I kept waiting for a port of joe and mac 1 & 2 to the Wii but this is even better! I hope they keep their humorous animations and ridiculous boss dinos. Great memories.....oh and don't hold back on the number of available chicks to marry!
Dustin @ Nov 6th 2009 4:49PM
wow. I remember getting the original NES game on my birthday. all of the frustration is coming back to me......
Scott @ Nov 6th 2009 4:56PM
HSOL has best avatar of all time.
tkAshur @ Nov 6th 2009 5:17PM
Wow...VERY surprised by this. I knew old games were making a comeback, but wow, this? Don't get me wrong, I'm as excited as everyone else, but I thought this, along with many other characters, were stuck in their respective graveyards.
Yan @ Nov 6th 2009 6:04PM
More crazy face animations, please.
iHavepants {SteamPSN: Arkanti} @ Nov 6th 2009 6:52PM
Please use the same sound effects.

Joe and Mac = pure class.
JeezWhiz87 @ Nov 7th 2009 3:14PM
Yes! I will totally buy this! This was the first cart for my SNES, and as such a rendezvous with both nostalgia, and pure awesome!
